The ex-KD Sri Terengganu

The Malaysian Royal Navy started to replace this old Patrol Boat and planned to replace it with the new Patrol Vessal a.k.a PV since the 1990s. Unfortunately, due to corruptions and scandal, only two PV emerge from the drydock out of 30 ordered by the goverment. And it cost the taxpayers 2 Billion Ringgit.
Here's the picture of the ship penant number.

Talk about overusage, this ship was commissioned in 1963 right into Malaysia-Indonesian Confrontation and it was retired in 1994 and to be converted into a Museum in Melaka. It traveled almost 69,00 nautical miles under 24 comanding officers. I wonder how long the navy plan to use the new Scorpane subs?

Look at the guns. Still usable?

Such a small vessal with such a big responsibility safeguarding the EEZ. Salute to all the Commanders and crew of ex-KD Sri Terengganu

I was the Commanding Officer of this fine Patrol Craft in 1969/70. My association with her was from 1963 when she was Commanded by the second Malaysian Chief of the RMN Datuk Zain. I was then on Sri Kelantan who was Commanded by the first Malaysian RMN Chief Datuk K.Thanabalasingam. We sailed back from U.K. to Malaysia and went straight on patrols because of the Confrontation.
Visiting Malacca in 2004, it saddened me to see that this craft was very neglected and in a very sorry state. I must thank the effort put in last year for the Navy Day when the Ship was spruced up and repaired. This 'display' is History - not only of the RMN but also of Malaysia.

I was one of two midshipman on board this fine craft. The late Lt. Mohd Zain ( 2nd C.N.S) was the commanding officer>We had a thrilling n scary time at sea bringing these two vessels back to Malaysia in mid december 1963. As we were sailing out of Portsmouth, we noticed a few British Frigates coming into harbour. One of the Frigates signalled us to inquire where we were going. Malaysia, we replied. Good luck came the frigates reply. We are going into harbour to take shelter! ! The sea was so rough that day. Frigates going into harbour to take shelter. 100 ton Patrol Craft charging out to sea for Malaysia. What a journey. I saw KD Sri Trengganu in Malacca n decided to visit the boat. Yes, It was sad to see the the total neglect of this craft. WSF
